Organization/Business Function Background:
Our client is an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives. The Integrated Drug Discovery team within the client focuses on the Discovery and Optimization of Small Molecule Leads in Drug Pipeline. The Cell Biology group within the In Vitro Biology department supports small molecule characterizations through robust cell-based assays.
The following list outlines the scope of work and deliverables for the project:
• The Cell Biology group is seeking a Scientist with experience in Drug Discovery. 100% onsite lab presence is required.
• Conduct cell-based assays specifically designed for small molecule screening aimed at lead identification and optimization.
Scope Description:
Prepare buffers required for various laboratory processes and experiments.
• Utilize sterile Tissue Culture techniques to propagate viable cells and create assay plates for further experimentation.
• Dilute compounds using the Echo acoustic liquid handler and modifying Echo protocols when necessary to ensure accurate dilutions.
• Create protocols, operate liquid handlers, and plate readers essential for cell-based readouts, including, but not limited to Tecan Fluent, Thermo Inspire, Liquid Handlers (Echo, Tempest, Apricot, and Pherastar)
• Process integration and automated systems to perform assay steps across multi-day experiments, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
• Validate assays by adhering to the guidelines established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
• Process management of compound plate maps and plate data in Abase and Genedata to effectively organize and manage experiment data.
• Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assay steps, and robotic procedures.
• Data management in an electronic notebook (Benchling) to maintain detailed and organized records of all experiments and findings.
Expected Benefit:
The client’s benefit is that conducting cell-based assays for small molecule screening allows lead identification and optimization, contributing to drug discovery efforts. By integrating automated systems, adhering to NIH and client guidelines, and managing data effectively, this project enhances the assays' efficiency, accuracy, and overall success.
